[To the reader: If you have any advice or feedback to improve this series of Crochet training, email me at threeknits@gmail.com]

Did you notice the different needles in my logo? Can you identify the crochet needle in them?

The casual term people use to point out most yarn work is 'knitting.' Every crocheter will identify with me when I say this. I often correct them and say, no this is 'crochet'

them: "Crochet!!??"

me: "Yes its done with a single needle."

And then I get this very weird look as if I don't understand what they are saying

them: "Oh you do knitting with one needle?"

Sometimes I just give up and at other times, if I have the patience and if I'm close to my crochet needle, I show them. 80% of them just behave as if the knitting needle was bent with overuse, 15% are stubborn to call it knitting no matter what, 4% just don't care and then there are the 1% who listen, are curious and show interest in what you say.

So what exactly is crochet?

Let's give crochet its own credit now. No it is not knitting. Crochet is an entity a form of art, handwork in itself. It has its own language & script. It's much faster to work with when compared to knitting. Most importantly it uses a 'Single' 'Hooked' 'Needle' unlike its counterpart the knitting :)

and mind you the 't' in the word crochet is silent

What can you do crocheting (t is silent, don't forget)?

Just like all crafts what can you make is limited by you imagination. What people have achieved are many forms of art, some of which I have listed below
lacework - one of the forms is famously known as Irish crochet
granny squares, ovals, rectangles, circles .....
Amigurumi
Filet work
afghans / blankets - also comes with its own set of crochet needles known as Tunisian crochet
etc etc.

(Its just the start of a new series, for those looking for a step by step guide into learning / mastering crochet. When I started I was confused with all the information that was available on the web. After having worked my way through learning this skill, now, I've decided to put this training up in an organised format to help all newbies (or oldies) to achieve whatever they wish to. This content is completely researched and written by me so do not pick any information or distribute from here without my permission. You're welcome to add the link to my tutorials on your websites.

Dec 18, 2017

Though it takes much time, my all time favorite is to indulge in the intricacies of thin threads. As I weave creating patterns, making littles laces and joining them to form larger shapes.

Talking of time - this is one such design where one complete square with 4 petals and 1 rose takes close to 5 hours. And joining this with another such square takes another hour. So if I tell you, here is a tablecloth consisting of 12 such squares, do the math :)

Then you wonder all the patience artists like me have to create this masterpiece. Well I would call it passion not patience. When you love what you do, time does not count. I can spend my lifetime doing this again and again. At the end I just look and adore and showoff and fill my heart with such beauties my hands were able to create.

[UPDATE (11th Jan, 2018): Thanks to all the great advice received from people around. Most of you came to me asking to extend the dates, mostly due to the holiday season or your busy schedules. Having been in the same boat, I have instead changed the way this event will conclude. Facebook being one of the common platforms used by all participants of this event, I have created a group where all of you are welcome to join. The good news is that there is no need for a deadline. So new members can also join in. The group will be open at all times and depending on the success, we will host parties and events where we all can get an equal opportunity for publicity. Though the group is live, its activities would resume once we have a good crowd. Feel free to join!
If you have any questions, as usual contact me on threeknits@gmail.com.

I'm one of those ladies who does not like hair dangling on my face. In my jewellery collections are a few hairbands - mostly plastic. Something that peeves me most is when the edges pinch the back of my ears, sometimes causing terrible aches. I remembered all those lace and satin hairbands my mom bought for me when I was young. But now I needed a style that looked my age - though this looks cute on little one's. Thats how this hairband was born. What makes this my favorite creation apart from how the pattern turned out, is the yarn used. Its got an element of elasticity to it, soft lustre gives it that royal designer look and one size literally fits all. Tried this on me and my 5 year old, worked just perfect.

Since its my favorite, I'm attaching a price to this :) Simple and free though, all you have to do is subscribe to me. You will receive a confirmation and within 24 hours a written pdf pattern emailed to your inbox. And a Bonus - you will get a link to a private video of this pattern on youtube.

Have questions? Want to purchase this hairband email threeknits@gmail.com

Thank you for joining me.

Thread crochet so intricate yet so beautiful. Found this pattern with (I think) Russian instructions. Completed this in like 3 weeks and very happy with how it turned out. With this one done I need to reorder the white thread which I always keep in stock.

Dimensions:
Length - 26 inches (approx.)
Width - 16 inches (approx.)

Since it is made of cotton yarn, starching and ironing it flat when slightly damp will give the best result.

It looks so royal, seriously could not take my eyes of this beauty

This is the pattern I followed. If you have any difficulty following this pattern or would like some explaining, let me know.

Hope you like it!

I have been working on this video for a few months now. For lack of time and being a first timer at editing videos, this was a challenge. I found this pattern for a flower motif very interesting and I'm planning to make a handbag by joining several of these motifs. But I'm not sure if that would ever be possible. Check the video below explaining how this crochet flower is made.

Since this is my first time, your comments and feedback either here or on youtube would mean a lot to me. Subscribe to my youtube channel to be updated of more such tutorials in the future.

A post a day after valentines day but about valentines day only shows how busy I was on the V day. No it was not the usual 'I love you' and 'chocolates' day for me. But rather a lightbulb that glowed in my creative mind.

I have been waiting to make a quilled earring, use a beehive technique for the first time ever and all this had to happen on the day of love with the things I love to do the most - CRAFT

And so then what happened is .. I drew the whole sketch mentally then got to working right away. Completed one and then pulled out my tripod, attached my camera, set set set and made a video of how to go about it.

Yes you heard me right! A Video! A Tutorial! A Free Pattern!

Because I love you crafters so much I am putting my extra time and effort, going that extra mile. Editing my video as I type this post on another window (computers a meant to multitask, aren't they??)

So when done I will upload it on my new youtube channel, that would be the first ever upload and will keep you updated on when that happens. In the meantime please check the pic below of how it turned out.

And wonky yeah! Don't you see it was not a perfect heart after all just like all of us. A bulge here and there - not perfect, yet one that asks to be loved and in return gives as much love and care

Mommy days and crazy schedules, its all a part of life. But most of all what's natural is satisfying and brings happiness. Nothing to crib about. Why I mention this? Our daily chores do not change, the artist within us does not change, and the 24 hours do not change. And within that family time, work time, home time, craft time a new time got added - mommy time :) While family, craft and home get equal attention what suffers is this blog and the time to interact with others in the social circles. And that being said, here I introduce a Baby Blanket I made two and half years back.

What?!! two and half years back!!

ha ha ha that's what I meant Mommy days and crazy schedules.

Well its summer time and not even the right season to show this now. But it was used by my little fellow all through winter cuddling cozily into the warmth of 'mommy made me a blanket.'

I know you love the colors on this blanket and how cute it looks, and for those itching to make this I transfer you to my inspiration which made it possible. I have added more colors than the original pattern demands and did not go into making bunny ears. I just liked it simple and the way it looked. Bunny Ears? Oh! well you have to check the original pattern for this @ http://createanddecorate.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/somebunny-to-love/

While I know the original pattern is too cute and easy to get lost into the dreamy bunny ears, I would like to shake you a bit so that you can tell me how mine turned out. Yeah by leaving a comment below:) But if you wish to be lost there forever, I will not blame you. Oh BTW this will take you like a month to make.

Hope you like the pattern by Deb Richey, and my blanket too.

Writing this post did not seem anything lesser than a project to me. I can blabber all I want about several things, but to write about myself requires some deep thought. So after all the thought I have put this post together. Thanks to Anna @ Hindustanka Blog - http://hindustanka.blogspot.in for the award - my first blog award.

So the rules for the award:
1.Accept the Award and put up a pic of the award on your blog

4. Nominate 11 other lovely bloggers

Bigtime yes!

Well I only and always enjoy my mum preparing pork and any kind of veggies.
5. Do you have many friends (in real)?

6. Would you like to go to the Moon (and back)?
No! I am scared of rockets :D

Right now with a baby things have changed quiet drastically. 8. Would you like to learn any new language?
Yes I am very passionate, but literally with no time. I sometimes pray God gave every woman an hour extra in her life .. like 25 hours in a day would do miracles :) Btw I have a basic knowledge of Italian and French my next goal should be German followed by Russian.
